There has also been changes in the way medical students are tested these days.
  • Exam from paper to computer
  • Basic Sciences USMLE-1 testing pattern has changed tremendously. Previously question format in basic medical sciences used be with no case histories, non patient format and simple straight questions
  • Eg: Heart Muscle enzyme tested in heart attack patients is? CPKMB ( in 1980's ) A 67 year old male came to Emergency Room with the chief complaint of pain in the chest for the last 2 hrs. What would be your initial step in the management of this patient? ( in 2000 )
The examiners are testing the basic science applications in the clinical scenarios in USMLE-1. In addition to that MEDICAL ETHICS, EPIDEMIOLOGY, CT SCANS, MRI'S, EKG'S, EEG'S, X-RAYS, DERMATOLOGY PICTURES, SKIN LESIONS and many other aspects of medicine are tested in USMLE-1, 2 and 3.
1. WIN TEST:
Windsor has launched new ways of teaching and preparing the students for USMLE. WINTEST is a system where students of Windsor take hundreds of practice tests exactly similar in pattern and format as conducted by USMLE. These tests are offered as self assessment and case clusters in individual subjects and comprehensive mode. Student will have an opportunity to take hundreds of tests with thousands of practice questions right from his house on our secured testing systems. These WIN TESTS are similar to USMLE exams and are timed and presented in the same way as USMLE. It is as if the student is taking the actual USMLE exam. This will help our students to be familiar and not be strangers when they sit on the actual USMLE exams. Please visit us at wintests.windsor.edu
2. WIN PEARLS:
Windsor has introduced a new way of familiarizing the students with USMLE questions. There will be 800 questions tested on computer in USMLE-1. Each question out of these 800 will have a subject/point/topic that the examiner wants to test the student. Most examiners test most commonly applied basic and clinical aspect of medicine in the current patient care management. Windsor is providing the student with 125, 000 points of high yield, most commonly asked points tested in old USMLE exam papers. There is no room for any examiner to test beyond our WIN PEARLS as there are 125,000 points that the student will get to know from us and there are only 800 questions tested in USMLE-1. Our objective is to make sure that when the student sits in front of the computer doing these 800 questions in the actual USMLE exam, he or she must be familiar with every question and must have seen the related material in our WIN TEST and WIN PEARLS. These WIN PEARLS are offered in three phases. Please visit us at windsor .edu for sample of WIN PEARLS
3. WIN CASES:
Due to the change in the testing patterns and format of the USMLE boards and examiners where clinical case scenarios are given in all parts of USMLE, Windsor has introduced 767 clinical cases with material. These are the most important and common cases asked frequently and tested commonly in all exams. Please visit us at www.windsor.edu for the index of the cases.
